                                                                Timeless Treasures
The idea behind the concept “Timeless Treasures” has to do with the memories we acquire in our lifetime and how no matter how old we get, those memories remain the same. In order to portray this idea and give the nostalgic feeling to the audience, I would choose techniques such as tea dying to give the materials a worn look. Also, I think taking ideas such as the use of old letters, frayed or burned edges, and possibly even photographs. The dress should have a modern silhouette since the principle idea is a more antique feeling. I plan on using different textures to create a very tactile look to the dress by using different materials and techniques. I think exploring and researching different surface design techniques will be important to this design. For materials, this dress will be mixed media and will consist of both paper and fabric.

  1. I really like the sound of an antique appearance, as it really fits the concept / mood you're wishing to portray. I'm interested in seeing what sort of type treatment you use for the piece - perhaps an old-style typeface such as Garamond would work here.

I feel like your concept is great because anything that has a history, whether it be an old piece of jewelry, or an old book can easily relate to many people in the audience. It will be interesting to see how you guys interpret what is timeless to you. It would be great if you guys could tie in a personal story, or use a technique that maybe your grandma always used to do, this would make your design that much more powerful I think to who ever the viewer would be. Just an idea :) I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!
