Blog 6: Laurie + Natalya

How does the font directly relate to both your finalized concept + silhouette?

The font will be handwritten on the dress itself. It will be written angrily as if the girl writing it were writing angrily about her feelings in a diary. The emotional feel is very important for the text because the words echo the pain and emotions of the girl writing them.

How does the font directly relate to both your finalized concept + silhouette?

Our dress is going to be very structural and angular. We want to emphasize the letter “V” in the structure of the dress in several places (in the neck piece, neckline, slit, etc.) We want to use a pattern inside the structural part composed of just the letter “V”. The font is directly related to the concept because it is bold, angular, and sharp. It gives it a dangerous, powerful, vicious feel. The curves on the font also echo the curves in the structure of the dress, which are based on the curves of bat wings. The font is a font that Laurie modified to have these angular wing shapes.
