  1. I can see this dress as a very loud and impact heavy piece. There is much commentary about the purpose and dis/satisfaction of being a Geisha, and that folklore sounds very interesting.

    I'm not seeing the message you're trying to convey yet, just the yama-uba title in the concept sketches.

    I've been to Japan twice and have taken a year of Japanese language. There is so much that you could say with this dramatic inspiration.

    I'm not an expert or anything, but if you want to hear about my experience and what some the Japanese had to say about their own culture and social norms/problems, hit me up anytime.

  2. I really like your illustrations and the colors in your mood board. Everything is so fun. And i especially love the idea of a geisha. My great great aunt was a Japanese geisha. I can't wait to see your dress.

  3. What a strong concept! I'm not sure of what you're "saying" on the garments though...that they're strong young women? Love the illustrations--they're strong and convey the Asian geisha aesthetic very well but it's still young and flirty.
